I’ve decided to add this little story about the new found planet that may have potential for life.
Many internet sites had this up for a few days but I wanted to wait and see if anything new would emerge from this new discovery before posting it here on our site.
This article has little to do with UFO research but I thought it would be interesting to post.

For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for “life in the universe.” The planet is just the right size, might have water in liquid form, and in galactic terms is relatively nearby at 120 trillion miles away. But the star it closely orbits, known as a “red dwarf,” is much smaller, dimmer and cooler than our sun. The new planet’s star system is a mere 20.5 light years away, making Gliese 581 one of the 100 closest stars to Earth. It’s so dim, you can’t see it without a telescope, but it’s somewhere in the constellation Libra, which is low in the southeastern sky during the midevening in the Northern Hemisphere

Star does Siriusly good UFO impression

The National UFO Reporting Center has received reports from across the nation — all of them describing a bright, colorful, moving object in the Monday night sky.

One of them came from Kennewick.

The object, at the time unidentified, caught the eye of Aubren Scofield and her husband, Tommy. Soon, they noticed it was moving, maybe even flying.

“It’s quite strange,” Scofield said. “It’s more like a white, orbish thing with red lights.”

The couple grabbed a camera, a telephoto lens and headed for the library on Union Street to get a better look. Aubren said they shot about 90 photos.

“They are very, very interesting,” she said. “It’s not like anything normal.”

Actually, it is normal, according to Peter Davenport, director of the National UFO Reporting Center.

“It’s the star Sirius,” he said.

Seriously?

“(Monday) night, we probably received about a half dozen calls from across the U.S.,” said Davenport, who operates from Harrington in Eastern Washington. “Everybody was looking at the same thing. All the descriptions are so similar, I could quickly identify the star Sirius.”

Sirius, Davenport said, burns light years away from Earth and its light is often bent and refracted off dust storms, ice storms and cloud formations to create a twinkling sensation. He said it can be seen by looking to the west or southwest.

When viewed through a telephoto lens like Scofield’s, Davenport said the star’s light is intensified in green, red and yellow shapes.

Scofield’s photos — often showing an ultra-bright, blurry circular shape with swirling green and red colors streaming off like dissipating gas or smoke — seem to fit Davenport’s description.

Scofield’s not buying it.

“I don’t believe a word of that,” she said after hearing Davenport’s explanation. “Why don’t I believe it was a star? Because it was moving and changing shape.”

Davenport explained that as well. When staring at a bright object against a black background, he said, the object can appear to begin moving. “Really, it’s the eyes moving,” he said.

Since Sirius’ light has to travel light years to reach us, Davenport said at times it can become obscured, causing the star to eventually get smaller and fade from view. As this happens, he said, it appears to leave a streak in the sky, which Scofield said she also saw.

“It’s an optical illusion,” Davenport explained, saying Sirius can disappear from the night sky for days. When it’s visible, however, his center hears about it.

“We get six to seven calls a night,” he said of people reporting Sirius.

Still, Scofield plans on keeping an eye on the heavens.

“I’m going to look into it more,” she said, explaining that it was the first suspected UFO she’d ever seen. She sent a report to the National UFO Reporting Center, which Davenport has headed since 1994.

Asked if she’s now a believer, she said: “I believe it was not a star.”

Another hoax or what?

Can this be another hoax like the New Jersey balloons but in a more sophisticated way.
The Youtube video below is creating a bit of a stir amongst European ufologists. Allegedly this sighting occurred in the city of Paderborn around a week ago at dawn. It sure seems an odd time of day for anything other than a UFO to be buzzing the town centre.
Paderborn is in Germany’s west and is the capital city of Paderborn district. It is a historic and charming town with a population of around 150,000. The ‘Irminsul’ tree is said to be in the area. This is a kind of ancient pagan Germanic ‘Tree of life’ or ‘Holy Grove’ and still attracts pilgrims, mainly of a neo-pagan variety.

UFOs are real and we are not alone

Edgar Dean Mitchell, who flew on the 1971 Apollo 14 mission to the moon, says there is extraterrestrial life, and that it´s being concealed by the United States government, among others.

Scientist-Astronaut Edgar Mitchell dropped a bombshell speaking at the fifth annual X-Conference saying “there is extraterrestrial life, and that it´s being concealed by the United States government”.

The conference is where a group of speakers discuss “the governmental, political and media aspects of 60+ years of extraterrestrial engagement and government denials. George Noory Coast to Coast AM radio show host and famous author and archaeologist Graham Hancock where among others to speak at the gathering.

During Mitchell´s presentation he explained that, having grown up in Roswell, New Mexico, the site of disputed UFO crash in 1947. Mitchell says he and other members of his community were told by military authorities not to talk about it.  But witnesses  “didn´t want to go to the grave with their story. They wanted to tell somebody reliable. And being a local boy and having been to the moon, they considered me reliable enough to whisper in my ear their particular story.” Mitchell claims, they eventually want the story out, and he is viewed as a credible messenger because of his resume.

“I urge those who are doubtful: Read the books, read the lore, start to understand what has really been going on. Because there really is no doubt we are being visited,” he said.

“The universe that we live in is much more wondrous, exciting, complex and far-reaching than we were ever able to know up to this point in time.”

Mitchell claimed he used his highly-regarded status to speak confidentially with a Pentagon admiral, who confirmed the UFO crash at Roswell. He claims he has since spoken to government officials from three different countries who say they have had contact with aliens. He is now calling for NASA and the government to stop hiding evidence of alien contact and start being honest with the American public.

A NASA spokesperson responded saying that “NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover-up about alien life on this planet or anywhere else – period.”

This information Mitchell has said before but different this time is the mainstream media has picked it up as while as cyberspace. Mitchell has set the Internet ablaze with articles, blogs, and forum discussion. One reporter said what is getting all of the attention is Mitchell is a man who is respected highly, and a national hero, has with a somber, straight face told the world without reservation that we have been visited by UFOs, aliens are real, and our government is indeed, covering up this information.

“Our destiny, in my opinion, and we might as well get started with it, is [to] become a part of the planetary community. … We should be ready to reach out beyond our planet and beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there.” Mitchell has said.

According to a CNN report April 20, 2009, former astronaut Edgar Mitchell told an audience at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., that the basic story of a 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico, is true.

Mitchell was an astronaut on the Apollo 14 mission to the moon in 1971 and he spoke at the National Press Club after the fifth annual X-Conference, an event focused on research involving UFOs.

CNN reported that Mitchell told journalists that there is firm knowledge that extraterrestrial life exists and this information is being held back from the general public in the U.S. and internationally.

Mitchell was raised in Roswell and knew many of the townspeople there. He said they confided to him years later about what they knew, although they had been told to keep the information quiet.

In addition, Mitchell said that about 10 years ago a Navy admiral working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed to him that a UFO had crashed at Roswell.

Citing the existence of evidence, Mitchell stated, “No, we’re not alone.”

ROSWELL AND SECURITY

Mitchell’s statements are not surprising to many researchers and average citizens. Other people might find Mitchell’s comments unsettling because there is also a natural skepticism about claims of UFOs and visitation to Earth by beings from other planets (and/or dimensions).

Claims of this kind coming from a respected and highly-trained person like Mitchell are not easily dismissed.

Information about an alleged crash of a spacecraft piloted by intelligent beings has been around for decades. Books, articles, movies and TV shows have told the story.

However, thinking about the possible reality of such a situation leads to many other questions: What else has happened in the area of UFOs? Have we made contact with other civilizations visiting our planet? Are they friend or foe? Can they help us solve some of the problems of the human race? Why has there been so much secrecy?

In the many accounts and tales about the Roswell incident, it is often noted that in the summer of 1947 the U.S. had just ended a devastating period during World War II. Military secrecy and security had been of the utmost importance during the war.

Some of the first people to learn about the Roswell crash were Army Air Corps (forerunner of the U.S. Air Force) personnel from the nearby Roswell Army Air Field, including intelligence officers.

Despite an intriguing press release that was issued to the media by the RAAF public information officer about a flying saucer being obtained by base officials, higher command quickly dismissed the story as a case of mistaken identity – the debris found was actually a weather balloon-type device, news reporters were told.

Behind the scenes of such a scenario, it would be logical to consider that the Truman administration, Pentagon and intelligence officials would have been shocked and concerned, both about the incident itself and the psychological, emotional and social ramifications for Americans.

ACCLIMATION THEN AND NOW

Are we any more psychologically prepared today than in 1947? Mitchell seems to think so. And so do many other researchers.

Despite the perceived need for robust security reportedly involved in the Roswell incident and subsequent developments, some researchers say that the American public has slowly and steadily received “acclimation” to get used to the idea of extraterrestrial visitors.

Some of this acclimation has allegedly been through the entertainment media and in fictional form as well as the management of information carefully released in indirect ways to the public.

American kids raised on TV and movies since the 1950s have become used to the idea of extraterrestrials coming to Earth. Of course, a real-life situation takes exciting movie adventures to another level and could naturally cause anxiety.

We humans don’t have a great track record getting along with each other, let alone extraterrestrial beings who might be quite different from ourselves.

In addition to strange visitors, the situation could be quite complex. Our understanding of science and nature, the Universe, spirituality and even the human race itself could be given quite a shock.

If Mitchell is accurate in his statements, then certainly much has been learned since 1947 by people who have been given the task of handling such an important and complex situation. How much information is the public able to understand and accept? Is it good news or bad news, or a mixture of both?

If the Roswell incident was real, as Mitchell claims, what has been going on since that time related to extraterrestrial visitors? Were some of the security measures, scientific research and other activities questionable – either by human officials or visitors?

One thing seems clear, Mitchell has moved the ball forward on acclimation of our society and people internationally about the possibility, or probability, that the human race and Earth are being visited from elsewhere and that we need to prepare ourselves.

UFO snapped hovering in Northern Territory sky

A TERRITORY mother has backed up claims unidentified flying objects have returned to the Top End after she photographed two “discs of light” in the sky.

The mother-of-three, who wished only to be known by her first name Kym, took the photo as she watched the dark rain clouds roll towards her Palmerston home last month.

Kym said the image was taken on her mobile phone and that she didn’t notice the strange lights in the clouds until she downloaded her pictures on to her computer.

She took many photos and even some video footage on her phone but said the UFOs only appeared in the one shot.

“It’s hard to tell what it is – it’s very strange,” she said.

“There was some lightning at the time but the shape of these lights is different.”

“If it was streaks you’d think it was lightning but these are circles.

“I thought it could be a street light reflection in the screen of the mobile I took the photo with but the street lights aren’t on.”

Her story follows that of Territorian Alan Ferguson, who told in the Northern Territory News this month how unidentified flying objects had returned to the skies above his Acacia Hill home.

Mr Ferguson put the rural suburb, 50km south of Darwin, on the international map last year when he first photographed UFOs flying around his home.

He said he quickly grabbed his camera on seeing a bright silver flickering object in front of a cloud last month.

The skywatcher said the UFOs seemed to appear when it was hot.

“Those aliens – they must have some pretty good airconditioning in those things, hey,” he said.

Kym said she had never had any previous encounters with UFOs.

“I’ve never really thought about them or had a view on them,” she said.

“But my motto is never say never – anything’s possible.”

A UFO filmed in Rio Brazil as you watch this video you cant see the object changing transforming into a different shapes.
